6 January, 2018
Canadian broadcaster Western Producer has published a report on Baladna farm, about 55 km from the Qatari capital, Doha.
The report says that the ambition of a farmer to supply all dairy products to 2.6 million people in Qatar has become a reality, noting that the farm «Baladna» developed a rapid expansion plan to meet the needs of the country’s dairy products by next April, after the trade embargo imposed by neighboring countries On Qatar.
According to the site, the blockade cut off regular dairy imports to Qataris, so our country’s farm established its own unit, under the direction of Executive Director John Dore, from Kildare County, Ireland. As construction began, cows were brought in from all over the world. Currently, there are 1,800 Holstein cows, but the goal is to form a herd of 14,000 cows in the near future.
Dory says more cows are on their way from the United States to expand the herd quickly.
