Tomato Basil Mozzarella Puff Pastry Tart

Ingredients

Pastry
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 large ripe tomato
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt,
  • 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • (226 grams) Mozzarella
  • 1-2 tablespoons cream cheese

How it's made!

1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface to fit the size of the baking sheet. Transfer the pastry sheet to the prepared baking sheet.
3. Spread the tomato sauce over the puff pastry sheet, leaving a 1/2-inch border around the edges.
4. Layer the sliced tomatoes on top of the tomato sauce.
5. Sprinkle the sliced basil, Italian seasoning, kosher salt, and freshly ground black pepper over the tomatoes.
6. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the top of the tart.
7. Dot small pieces of cream cheese evenly over the mozzarella cheese.
8. Bake the tart in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
9. Remove the tart from the oven and let it cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.
